IGNITE A LOVE OF READING THROUGH OUR IMAGINATION LIBRARY!
Ensuring that Texas students are prepared for success beyond high school begins with a strong foundation in the early grades. Currently, the readiness of Texas students reaches its peak in kindergarten, with a reported 58% readiness rate. However, recent data for Brazoria County students indicates a slight fluctuation in kindergarten readiness, with rates at 59% in 2021-2022 and a dip to 49% in 2022-2023. These figures underscore the importance of prioritizing kindergarten readiness initiatives to support children's development from the outset, setting the stage for academic achievement and future success throughout their educational journey.
What is the Imagination Library?
United Way of Brazoria County is honored to introduce the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to our community, aiming to support local schools in preparing children for kindergarten. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. Children ages birth-five who are registered with the program receive a free, age-appropriate book mailed to their home each month until age five. With this gift, they are more likely to develop a love of reading and learning. We need your support to be able to provide this opportunity to as many children in Brazoria County as possible.
All children ages birth to five in Brazoria County are eligible to receive free books!
