VITA Returns to Assist Residents with 2017 Tax Season

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. VITA is a financial stability initiative supported by United Way of Brazoria County.

 

At VITA Sites IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Volunteer tax preparers are still needed. There is a mandatory training session on the 2017 IRS software. The training session will be held:

This tax season marks the 10th year VITA has been available to residents of Brazoria County. Last year, VITA volunteers filed 78 returns for residents, saving them a total of $40,076 in Earned Income Tax Credits and $26,565 in Child Tax Credits. VITA Sites will be open each Saturday in February at the following locations:
