Flood recovery efforts are finishing out 2016 strong with the arrival of 10 members of the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps in Brazoria County from November 10 through December 15, 2016. Hosted by the Brazoria County Long-Term Recovery Committee, this group of young men and women traveled all the way from Denver to donate their time and sweat to rebuilding the homes of Holiday Lakes residents.
We are beyond grateful to these volunteers and their coaches for the immense amount of work they have accomplished in their short stay in Brazoria County. But, the most difficult and costly rebuild projects are yet to come. Most homes require a raising of the house by 3 feet or more, and the cost to raise a home varies from $6000-$8000 per foot. Until homes can be raised to safe heights, repair work can only be minor.
