In May 2017, The Dow Chemical Company Texas Operations and United Way of Brazoria County co-produced an event called The Impact Initiative, a capacity building symposium designed for local nonprofits, school district foundations, county and municipal departments to immerse key staff members in a day of organizational development activities.
Yesterday, the Brazoria County Long-Term Recovery Committee viewed the presentation, AFTER HARVEY: A Snapshot of the Journey to Recovery Following the Impacts of Hurricane Harvey. This presentation is a summary report of the activities of the Brazoria County Long-Term Recovery and the Brazoria County Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund.
From November 2017 through January 2018, UWBC will be conducting a Community Outreach Blitz across Brazoria County.
UWBC Disaster Assistance Coordinators will be traveling north, south, east & west to connect with residents who have unmet needs following Hurricane Harvey. There will be limited appointments daily at each location, based on the number of coordinators available. Residents will be seen on a first come, first served basis. See the required documentation checklist before arriving for an appointment.
While we hope for the best, we also know it's best to be prepared.
United Way of Brazoria County is hosting 10 AmeriCorps NCCC Members to work with residents who were affected by the 2016 June flood.
On March 2, 2017 UWBC partnered with Brazoria County Head Start Schools in Alvin, Angleton, and Sweeny; the Brazoria County Library System; The Dow Chemical Company, and Zachry Care Team, along with many other wonderful volunteers to bring the joy of Dr. Suess to Head Start Students across Brazoria County.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. VITA is a financial stability initiative supported by United Way of Brazoria County.
