Brazosport Medical Center Opportunities

 

Position: Data Entry Princess

The people that we impact are ones living on Social Security (as little as $500 per month) who's Medicare pays for an eye exam, but not glasses, or as Medicare does not have dental benefits we assist in getting an abscessed tooth extracted. BMC also helps those without insurance who are diabetic or have high blood pressure to get 3 visits with our medical provider. This gives the medical provider ample time to get them stabilized and give them some education about their disease. We also assist any uninsured client with getting prescription assistance.

As a United Way Agency we keep information for various reports. This volunteer position would require 2 to 4 hours a week putting information into our records. The information collected also is helpful when writing grants.

This volunteer position requires basic computer skills. We will teach the programs that we are using. There are no limitations on who can volunteer for this position.

Position: Intake Clerk

Our Smiling Intake Clerk will welcome clients to the prescription assistance program at Brazosport Medical Center and make copies of necessary documents, such as driver's license, proof of income, social security card and prescriptions. He/She will assist the client in completing the application and signing HIPPA documents and present the folder to the Director for screening. He/She will also assist in answering the phone.

Training will take about one hour. The Smiling prospective volunteer need only bring good organizational skills, a high energy level and, of course, willingness to assist families who are seeking the means to obtain necessary medications at low or no cost.

Turn right at traffic light at corner of Brazosport Blvd and Gulf Blvd. This corner has McDonalds, Church's Chicken, Baywood Foods and a Bucees. Proceed down 2 blocks and we are on the right hand side. A large elevated sign announces "Brazosport Medical Center".
